NiMera was created with the intent to develop the best infant milk powder for our babies and infants. We wanted the best ingredients to support their growth during the day and their development and sleep during the night.
NiMera – night and day originates for the Greek ‘nyx’ (night) and ‘mera’ (day) to reflect the circadiun rhythm – sleep wake cycle – between night and day. We believe it is this difference, a specially formulated day and a specially formulated night formula that makes NiMera the better alternative for formula fed babies.
Our founders Michael and George were raised by hard-working immigrant parents, and their Greek heritage has made family central to their lives. When they started their own families, they remembered how their parents did the best for them.
George recalls sitting up watching the World Cup as he took care of formula night-time feeds. Like every dad he wanted to know that he was helping his baby develop as he delivered the 2am feed…and sometimes a 4am feed as well.
Meanwhile, Michael who had a young family of his own, was working as a technical sales expert with various manufacturing companies – including those making infant milk powder. What struck him was that all the formulas were so similar. He saw first-hand the focus on operational and production efficiency in milk powder manufacturing. Surely there was something better.
Innovation in the infant powder industry has been focussed on adding nutrients to the one formulation which makes for more efficient production lines. Yet scientific research shows that circadian rhythm supports our essential functions and processes. The most important and well known is the – the sleep wake cycle – across night and day. Our infants grow and develop during the day and night and human breast milk’s nutritional profile changes to meet those needs across the sleep wake cycle so infants get the right nutrients at the right time – day and night. Formula should do the same.
“Our focus has been on taking the research and developing NiMera Day formula to support growth during the day and NiMera Night formula to support development and sleep at night. And so NiMera infant milk powder was born.’ says George
“We have been fortunate to start with a blank sheet of paper and work with an Australian manufacturer to develop the best powder with the infants growth, development and sleep in mind” said Michael.
After years of development, consulting with medical experts, nutritionists and researchers, the brothers have developed an innovative infant milk powder NiMera Day and NiMera Night.
Together, George and Michael set out to redefine how formula is developed and used by parents for the optimal growth and development of their infants. They took the time to get it right, and new parents will see the benefits as their children grow.
“Our key difference is higher levels of alpha lactalbumin, alongside specific nutrients for NiMera Night and specific nutrients for NiMera Day. Both the NiMera Day and NiMera Night powders contain a scientifically formulated synbiotic blend of prebiotics and probiotics to further support infant growth and development.” adds George.
George is a devoted father to son Billy and daughter Samantha. He fondly remembers the days and nights supporting his wife Karlie as they raised their two wonderful kids.
Michael has a beautiful daughter Georgia in her early twenties and is proud to see her grow into a strong and wonderful woman who is moving into the next phase of her life.
George and Michael are the sons of Vasilios and Georgia who emigrated from Greece in the 1950’s and ’60s, met and married in Sydney and began their new life together.
Michael and George were born in the same calendar year which was a blessing to their parents as they were able to raise their kids together. To this day they retain a very strong family bond. Georgia fondly remembers supplementing her breast milk with a formula for George at night as he cried and wouldn’t settle.
Vasilios and Georgia instilled their hard and honest work ethic in their kids, who now bring this passion and enthusiasm to NiMera. George and Michael are dedicated to making a real difference in the infant milk and toddler drink market and to the growth of the next generation of Australian children.
